Vojtěch Benda appointed as Chief Economist of ING Czech Republic

ING Czech Republic has announced the appointment of Vojtěch Benda as Chief Economist, effective as of 1 January 2023.

In his new role, Vojtěch Benda will be responsible for macroeconomic research and forecasts
focusing on the Czech economy, but also economies in the Central & Eastern European
region. He returns to ING after 11 years of working for the Czech National Bank.

In 1998, Vojtěch started his professional career in the Monetary Department of the Czech
National Bank as an Economic Analyst responsible for macroeconomic analyses and
forecasts. In 2006–2012 he joined the ING EMEA Research team as Senior Economist,
responsible for providing economic analysis of the Czech Republic.

In 2014 he returned to CNB as Adviser to the Bank Board and later, between 2016 and 2022,
he was CNB Board Member. In this role he supervised CNB departments responsible for the
monetary policy, payment systems, cash circulation, budget and accounting.

Vojtěch Benda is a graduate of the Faculty of International Relations at the University of
Economics in Prague.
