My role: I work in sector coverage real estate. We are responsible for establishing and building customer relationships, covering clients holistically and providing the financing of real estate and real estate corporates.
What does a perfect start of the day look like for you?
Waking up to sunshine, a cup of Darjeeling Tea and some form of workout
What does your typical workday look like?
Every day is different because every transaction is different, and you never know which challenges you will be facing next. My daily task consists mainly of working on new financing requests together with senior colleagues and supporting them with relationship management. Apart from that I also work on bank-wide projects that are more of a strategic nature.

How would you describe the work culture at ING?
Modern, open, flat hierarchies, far from the “rigid bankers” cliché.
In your view, what's special about working in real estate finance?
I'm particularly fascinated by the fact that real estate can be experienced. Every property is different; thus, each transaction is unique and exciting. It's always a great moment when we visit a property to be financed and you can see the impact of your work directly on site.
Is there an area that is of particular interest to you or one where you would like gain further expertise?
That would be real estate developments, more complex structures, relationship management, and more transactions with capital markets or M&A angles.
What keeps you motivated in your work?
The variety of available financial products, the challenges to think completely new with every transaction and the direct client contact. But of course, just as important ING as a cool employer and my fantastic colleagues.
Can you tell us any other interesting fact about yourself?
I’ve been a drummer in a band for over 10 years now and that has helped me find a good balance.
