Wholesale Banking

Daniela, Vice President - Corporate Sector Lending

My role includes structuring and executing transactions and issuing adequate approval recommendations.

What does a perfect start of the day look like for you?

A perfect day is when I manage to do some sport before getting my cup of tea to start the day.

What does your typical workday look like?

Every day looks different, and that is one of the many things I really like about my job. I manage a portfolio of nine clients across different sectors. Hence, the topics vary enormously. From Acquisition Financing, driven by consolidation in the healthcare sector, to companies adapting to the energy transition. Our tasks are manifold, and client oriented. From internal meetings, strategic projects, telephone conferences, negotiation of documentation, customer meetings, structuring and execution of transactions, as well as administrative work.

Describe your job in 3 words:

Interesting, challenging, diverse.

How would you describe the work culture at ING?

ING’s work culture is in my opinion one you could compare with a start-up. The people who work here are very open, uncomplicated, supportive, and professional. The bank is less hierarchical and therefore, everyone can easily take things on and make it happen.

In your view, what’s special about working at ING Wholesale Banking?

Many things make my work at ING special. The colleagues, the international atmosphere, the way ING empowers employees to stay one step ahead in life and in business (e.g., through projects, STAs, LTAs, LearnING and healthcare budgets, IDPs, etc.) but also the Orange Code culture. Being promoted to work as a team player, instead of achieving my own goals is in my opinion a success factor for a good and constructive atmosphere within the bank.

Is there an area that is of particular interest to you or one where you would like gain further expertise?

There are many areas of interest for me, in which I would like to develop myself further. In the short term, I am focusing on my documentation skills, which will serve me well within Corporate Sector Lending and beyond.

What keeps you motivated in your work?

  • The good atmosphere
  • The variety of tasks and topics
  • The new challenges
  • The recognition and feeling that I am adding value

Beside your job, what are your other passions in life?

Sports is the perfect counterbalance I have for dealing with stress and my competitive character. I used to do ballet and tennis for many years. Now I am very passionate about downhill biking and most recently snowboarding. I love being outdoors and I love to combine sports with friends.

Can you tell us any other interesting fact about yourself?

I am an only child who planned to study in Germany for just one year, but I ended up marrying a Mexican and staying for already 12 yrs.
